A Saturday night mix of live ragtime, swing, country and blues!
Headliners The Swamp Stomp String Band are not your average Americana band. Twangy banjos, driving guitars and a thudding double bass sit behind anything from drinking songs that’ll have the room stomping there feet and shooting tequila to ballads that’ll break even the most toughest folks, to ragtime songs of bar fights and gambling.
“Taking a mixture of Jazz, Country, Swing, Blues and Ragtime – it is safe to say there music is there to be enjoyed by people young and old, rich or poor, or who just love to stamp there feet and have a ho-down.”
In support, the ace Joe Strouzer sings songs from his travels from Newcastle to New Orleans and a hell of a lot of places in between. His driving guitar is coupled with harmonica voodoo and biting songwriting of modern trouble, heartpains, moonlit trysts, drinking and devilment, peppered with a rich history of blues.
“I love that!” Cerys Matthews, BBC Radio 2 Blues Show
“Joe played the harmonica so damn good” Gill Landry, 2 x Grammy Award Winner
“Where in the world did a limey kid from the U.K. get the nerve, and the talent to sing the blues like he had roots in the 1930’s Mississippi Delta” Leroy Martin, Swamp Pop Legend and Louisiana Board of Music.
“The only British guy I’ve ever liked” Blind Texas Marlin
