The creative community of Cable Street Studios and world music venue Jamboree present Gaza is Burning; a fundraising festival offering a rich program of multi arts to raise funds for the citizens of Gaza who are currently in need. The nominated aid organisation is Medical Aid for Palestinians.

Head down for 6pm to be welcomed by a collection of stalls selling brick-a-brac, clothes and healthy food, donated and ran by volunteers from the Cable Street Studios Community, as-well as a documentary screening in Fig Row Studio throughout the evening.

From 8pm Jamboree opens with a talk from a representative of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, since being founded in 1982 they are the largest and most active campaign organisation in the UK on the issues of Palestine. This will be followed by a talk from The Vice President of Stop the War Coalition, along with a representative of Medical Aid for Palestine.

The evening of live music and performs begins with an enchanting dance performance from Alejandra Bano to the sounds of live fusion Jazz.

This is followed by DILA V & THE ODDBEATS weaving exotic waves of ancient Turkish folk, Bolero beats, Grecian Rebetiko and Balkan rhythms.

The evening spins into an electronic visual and audio paradise with a mesmeric dancing creature covered in mirrors and strobes introducing ELECTRIC LITANY, a canvas of orchestral krautrock music from Athens.

The night then takes a charmingly British twist with a Charlie Chaplin cabaret performance opening for the howling harmonica men of Gypsy country music FRANKY & THE JACKS, who’s one and only mantra is “Make ‘em dance”

Not long after midnight a buzzing crowd will be directed to Fig Row Studio for the charity art & treasures auction. All pieces are donated from local artists.

Headlining the night are FARAFI, a firework explosion of beautiful African Groove and World music followed by rocksteady Reggae DJ Japu Selektah till 3am.
