A Saturday night of stompin’ and hollerin’ blues, country and ragtime classics from the early 1900s with The FoBo Jug Band, supported by The Pegwells putting their own twist of the old time tunes of the Appalachians…

The FoBo Jug Band are an acoustic trio featuring vocals and acoustic guitar; piano; harmonica and washboard. They’ve been playing together for over 10 years and have done hundreds of gigs across the UK and abroad: from the Ignite Jazz Sessions at the Royal Albert Hall to the Crazy Coq’s Cabaret, weddings at pig stud farms, UK International Jazz and Blues Festivals and the whole gamut inbetween!

IN ACTION

The Pegwells play the old time tunes of the Appalachian mountains, presenting another untold story of American folk music, one that challenges and dismantles the myth of an intrinsic whiteness. Understanding the history of Old Time to be one of the colonial experience, the band blend British Isles and Celtic tunes with West African rhythms.
Formed in 2021 by Bianca Wilson (banjos) and Rebekah Bouche (guitar) as a space to protest the tokenism of existing as a marginalised gender in the traditional music scene, they apply a queer lens to the sound, making room for themselves to play the music that they love. With the addition of Ray Aggs on fiddle, each player brings a unique musical background and identity, evolving and expanding the sonic tapestry of the group.
