It’s the second installment of Kamao Quartet’s monthly event at Jamboree, performing beautiful traditional Manouche and Romani Gypsy music, Django Reinhardt compositions, originals, jazz and Brazilian choro music…

This Sunday features the original Kamao Quartet line-up and guests including swinging trumpeter Sheila Maurice Grey, who will bring a hot five hard swinging vibe to the evening.

Kamao Quartet are:
Jean de Talhouet (guitar, singing)
Dave Shulman (Clarinet)
Dave Kelbie (Guitar)
Ruth Goller (Double Bass)

“Kamao” means “I like/ I want/ I love” in Romani dialect.

The Kamao Qaurtet take their inspiration from the legacy of the great Django Reinhardt and traditional Manouche and Romani (gypsy) music. Their repertoire ranges from hot swinging jazz, to traditional manouche songs, original compositions, jazz songs and even Brazilian Choro. Fronted by singer and guitarist Jean de Talhouet, the band on this night will include Dave Shulman (clarinet) and Ruth Goller (Double Bass), creating a beautiful sound that compliments the vocals with haunting and lyrical harmonies, punctuated with captivating instrumental improvisations.
