FIREFLY BURNING
”This is music that paints sound pictures and takes the audience in myriad directions at will” – For Folks Sake
“the music is so utterly hypnotic…Firefly are intoxicating, beautiful and affirming” – Matchbox Magazine
“at the avant garde edge of the folk scene, making quirky, challenging and innovative music…bold and stark musical vision.” – Bright Young Folk
Firefly Burning are an East London collective born out of a series of chance musical encounters. Bea Hankey, John Barber, Sam Glazer, James Redwood and Jack Ross create songs which paint sound pictures with javanese gamalan, guitar, strings, piano, gongs and voices.
“If I Had a Ribbon Bow” – Firefly Burning from Good Evening Arts on Vimeo.
Eclectically embracing Sufjan Stevens’ wonky unadulterated pop and the post-minimalism of John Adams, Firefly Burning’s music is full of close harmonies, intricate rhythms and evocative atmospheres. In debut album Lightships shades of Debussy and William Byrd vie with eastern textures to capture their hypnotic live performances.
Firefly Burning are currently writing a second album, working with producer Tim Friese-Green (Talk Talk, Heligoland). They are also in residency in the Royal Brompton Hospital, playing and writing songs with patients on the wards.

QUEST ENSEMBLE
Quest is a contemporary London based ensemble who devise and perform original work. The core of the group comprising Filipe Sousa (Piano), Preetha Narayanan (Violin) and Tara Franks (Cello), aim to explore and create a unique take on the classical piano trio.
Their distinctive sound is driven by the individual voices of the instrumentalists, blending their diverse cultural and musical backgrounds. With intriguing traces of Vaughn Williams, Steve Reich and EST, Quest Ensemble create their own unique and evocative musical landscape filled with beautiful melodic lines, rich harmonies and interwoven rhythmic counterpoint.
