A grand and beautiful “CEILIDH FOR CALAIS” dance party with the wonderful SOAS Ceilidh Band, with all dances explained by caller Ed Emery. The night also features Kurdish music from Peyman Heydarian (santur), with Kurdish dancing!

The SOAS Ceilidh Band play the traditional dance musics of the British Isles and Ireland – jigs, reels, hornpipes etc, a tradition of music which spans the centuries. They play regular ceilidh dances in London, and are strongly committed to the idea of “Ceilidh Beyond Borders” (their travel
tours in recent years have taken them to Calais, Paris, Istanbul, Venice, Cairo, Lebanon and Kurdistan). This night is a fundraiser with the goal of raising money to buy musical instruments for the “SOAS Goes to Calais” refugee solidarity trip to Calais on 20 June.
