THE CELTIC SESSION IS ON EVERY TUESDAY!!

Find yourself transported to the earthy Balkan and rhythmic world music of the Eastern  Mediterranean with a live session from our fortlynight residents El Khandak. Their name derives from the medieval arabic word for Crete. They are heavily influenced by the deep traditions of Ancient Grecian music and take inspiration from world music and eastern Mediterranean sounds.

Jamboree are very, VERY excited to announce our next headliners at Jamboree as none other than Louis Barabbas and the Bedlam Six!! One of  my all time favorite live acts (with an extremely worthy support from the wonderful Marmaduke Dando and Richard Barry)

Louis Barabbas and The Bedlam Six

Their infamous live shows incorporating rock, jazz, folk and theatre influences have proved time and time again that the group is at home on any line-up, even sharing the bill with such disparate acts as Motorhead, Sun Ras Arkestra, I Am Kloot, Eliza Carthy, The Blockheads, Emmanuel Jal and The Buzzcocks. In the last year alone they have toured Europe, the States and Mexico, inspiring stage invasions, dancing in the aisles and a confused mixture of exhaustion and bonhomie wherever they go. They are signed to co-operative Manchester-based label Debt Records.

Marmaduke Dando Hutchings

A singer of morose ballads and frisky drunken jigs, often extracting references to early Scott Walker, Brel and Weill. Bred from genuine pirate ancestry in a southern port, now based in London. He writes about all the horrors and beauties of the modern world, and barks them back at it with his dear band on the cold and regimented performance stages of London.

Richard is one of the most fondly revered performers on the UK folk circuit and Debt Records is making it their business to bring his work to a wider audience (whether he likes it or not).

AMARATERRA

Amaraterra is an ensemble of musicians and dancers from Italy performing traditional southern italian folk music in London. The main influence of the band is the timeless rhythms and dances of Salento, the very southern “heel” of the peninsula.

Most noticeably, Salento comes with its very own brand of folk dance: the “pizzica tarantata”, from the bite (“pizzico”) of the tarantula spider: the magic trance dancing that is said to heal any “poisoning of the soul”. But pizzica is also a dance of courtship, jesting, and simply joy of life. In the last 10 years, the “taranta” pizzica gatherings in August have become a magnet for revellers and World music lovers from all over the World, thanks also to the beautiful weather and sea of the region.
